For the overall health of the human body, one of the most important nutrients is vitamin d3. It is also known as cholecalciferol and calcitriol.  It is an important and unique nutrient. It acquires a hormone-like action. It is derived from 7-dehyrocholesterol. It controls phosphorus, calcium and bone metabolism and also important for neuromuscular functions. It strengthens the immune system and overall health of the human body. It also protects the body against various viral and bacterial infections.
Vitamin d3 is available in small amount in the dairy products and in some fishes, but the great gift of nature is that it can be achieved cheaply and abundantly as it produces in our skin when our skin come in contact with sunlight. Fear of skin cancer has stopped many people from taking beneficial amount of sunlight. The small amounts of people who dare to move out in the sun are using sun screening lotion. All this is creating deficiency of vitamin d3 in the majority of the population.
Deficiency of vitamin d3 is creating many health issues in individuals of all ages. People are suffering with depression; back pain is becoming common even in the people of young age because of the deficiency of this vitamin. Bone health is strongly associated with the proper and optimum intake of vitamin d3 as it deficiency leads to osteopenia, precipitates, and exacerbates osteoporosis, creates a painful bone disorder known as osteomalacia. It deficiency also cause weakness of muscles and hence enhance the risk of falls and fractures. It deficiency also effect the normal functioning of the brain and it also reduce the risk of many cancer including breast, prostate and colon cancer to great extent.
In short it is very important to take care of health and for healthy body proper intake of vitamin d3 is very essential.
